UK-based luxury footwear and accessories retailer Dune has inked an exclusive long-term franchise agreement with Reliance Brands to enter Indian retail market.

The first flagship store, under the deal, is expected to open by the end of 2012 or early 2013.

Dune international CEO Mohamediqbal Yacoobali said, "As one of the leading emerging markets, India has been a key territory targeted for development by the Dune Group."

Reliance Brands, part of Indian business conglomerate Reliance Industries, operates stores for brands such as Ermenegildo Zegna, Paul and Shark, Diesel, Quiksilver and Steve Madden and others, through joint ventures and long-term licensing deals.

The UK retailer currently operates 44 standalone stores and 171 concessions, besides House of Fraser, John Lewis and the fabulous Shoe Galleries in Selfridges London.
